How Can Pidgey Last Three Rounds With a Tyranitar in Pokemon Go?

Is Pidgey a secret powerhouse? Well, no...

When Niantic modified the gym system to be tougher or different, in their quest to dole out less "cash" than it used to, I get their attempt at making gym defending a bit different or tougher from the early years. But there are some interesting and obvious flaws in the newer process.

When I attack a gym with a defending Pidgey, it gets confounding when this tiny little Pidgey can last three rounds against a Tyranitar, somewhere, someone missed the mark.

When you look at the stats between the two Pokemon, you can see just how different they are because they pretty much sit on opposite ends of the power spectrum.  If all you do is merely add up their base stats, we have Tyr's 663 vs Pidgey's 241. If you sort the two on a scale of all Pokemon with the most powerful sitting at 100% and the most useless at 0%, Pidgey sits at 6% and Tyr, at 96% of this scale.

And yet a Pidgey went three rounds with my Legendary Tyranitar.

Niantic, I know you have your hands full dealing with the cheaters or spoofers out there right now, but here is my proposition for modifying the gym defense system, and from the outside, looking in, it seems like a simple fix

How To Fix the Pokemon Go Gym System In 2018

In my mind, a simple subroutine modification or addition would fix the process and it could probably take someone like me about four hours of effort to put it in there.

For one...  eliminate this fixed three rounds to defeat a fully "motivated" defender.

Instead, compare the defender against the attacker's total sum of stats, do some quick math and make it a 1 to 5 round battle, with the closer matched Pokemon taking five rounds to beat the crap out of each other, and the battle competitors with the greatest difference, making it a one round fight to deplete the defender's motivation.

This could possibly solve a few issues...

-Players may be deterred to leave Pidgeys and Weedles and Magikarp and Deoxys in gyms as defenders if they're going to fall instantly.

-Players waiting out defenders until their motivation levels drop by merely sitting in the gym.

That is all. Thanks.
